Ogden suffers knee injury

EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J., Sept. 3 (UPI) -- Offensive tackle Jonathan Ogden of Baltimore suffered a sprained medial collateral ligament in his left knee Thursday night in a pre-season contest.

According to the Baltimore Sun, Ogden, a seven-time Pro Bowl choice, sustained a second-degree MCL sprain in the Ravens' 27-17 win over the New York Giants.

"I'm feeling all right right now, it's just a sprained MCL. Hopefully it responds well and I'll be back next week," Ogden told the newspaper. "I've had MCL (injuries) before. One time it took me a week (to recover), one time four weeks. This doesn't feel too bad, so hopefully next week I'll be out there. That's the plan."

Leigh Ann Curl, the team's orthopedic surgeon, told the newspaper that if she had to make a determination now on the status of the former UCLA All-American for the season opener at Cleveland on Sept. 12, she would list him as questionable. She said she "will get a better idea" early next week.

The swelling has to subside for an accurate MRI.
