MLB: Minnesota 4, Texas 2

MINNEAPOLIS, Sept. 1 (UPI) -- Terry Tiffee delivered a two-run double during a three-run eighth Wednesday night as Minnesota rallied past Texas, 4-2.

Shannon Stewart hit a solo homer and Cristian Guzman also drove in a run for the Twins, who have won three of their last four games.

Terry Mulholland worked six innings for the Twins, but did not figure into the decision. He allowed two runs on eight hits.

Jesse Crain (1-0) pitched two perfect innings to get the win and Joe Nathan tossed a scoreless ninth for his 36th save.

Michael Young and Kevin Mench each had an RBI for the Rangers, who have dropped three straight games.

Texas starter Chan Ho Park, who has spent most of the year on the disabled list, gave up only two runs on eight hits over 7 1/3 innings.

Francisco Cordero was charged with the loss and his thrown blown save after giving up Tiffee's double.
