Ismael Valdez gave up four runs on seven hits in five innings, but that was still enough for the 100th victory of his career. Valdez (12-7) became the second Mexican-born pitcher to win 100 games, joining Fernando Valenzuela.

Armando Benitez worked a perfect ninth for his 40th save. Since coming off the disabled list on Aug. 13, he has faced 30 batters without giving up a hit.

Wilson Delgado hit a three-run homer for the Mets, who have lost five in a row and 10 of 11.

Tom Glavine took the loss.
