ATHENS, Greece, Aug. 29 (UPI) -- Sunday's highlights at the Olympics:

-- Greece celebrated a job well done, but a breach of security in the marathon marred the final day. A religious activist from Ireland known for disrupting high-profile events tried to tackle marathon leader Vanderlei Lima of Brazil. Lima quickly recovered and finished third behind Italy's Stefano Baldini and American Mebrahtom Keflezighi.

-- Andre Ward won the first boxing gold medal for the United States since the Atlanta Olympics. He captured the light-heavyweight final over Magomed Aripgadjiev of Belarus.

-- The IOC stripped two athletes of medals won in Athens. A woman cyclist from Colombia lost a bronze, which went to American Erin Mirabella. Hungarian Adrian Annus failed to appear at a drug test and refusal to take a test is regarded as the same as a positive one.

-- Cuba won three boxing gold medals, running its total in the ring to five.

-- The United States finished with 103 medals, 35 of which were gold. The Americans held off a charge by Russia, which won 26 medals over the final two days for a total of 92. China was second in golds with 32.
