MLB: Los Angeles 4, NY Mets 2

NEW YORK, Aug. 28 (UPI) -- Jose Hernandez snapped a tie game with a pinch-hit RBI single in a two-run eighth Saturday as the Los Angeles Dodgers beat the New York Mets, 4-2.

Adrian Beltre had a career-high five hits, including a solo homer for his major league-leading 42nd of the year and drove in two runs for the Dodgers, who won for only the third time in their last seven games.

Dodgers starter Odalis Perez yielded two runs and four hits over six innings, but was not involved in the decision.

Jeff Keppinger hit a solo homer -- the first of his career --and Richard Hidalgo also drove in a run for the Mets, who have lost six of their last seven games.

Giovanni Carrara (4-1) was the winner after tossing one inning, while Stanton (2-6) took the loss. Eric Gagne pitched the ninth for his 36th save -- and record 143rd over the past three seasons.
