ATLANTA, Aug. 25 (UPI) -- Chipper Jones belted two home runs and matched a career-high of five RBI to lead Atlanta past Colorado, 8-1, Wednesday night.
J.D. Drew scored two runs on three hits for the Braves, who won their third in a row.
Aaron Miles knocked in a run on two hits for the Rockies, who fell for the sixth time in eight games.
The Braves opened up the scoring on Jones' two-run homer in the first and cruised from there. John Thomson (10-8) earned the win in seven strong innings.
Jeff Francis (0-1) suffered the loss in his major league debut.
The Rockies cut the deficit to 2-1 in the third when Jorge Piedra raced home on a sacrifice fly by Miles.
But, the Braves got that run back in the fifth on a solo home run by Eli Marrero and four more in a sixth inning outburst that featured Jones' three-run blast.
