MLB: Tampa Bay 2, Oakland 1

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla., Aug. 22 (UPI) -- Jose Cruz homered to snap a sixth-inning tie Sunday and gave the Tampa Bay Devil Rays a 2-1 victory over the Oakland Athletics.

Tampa starter Dewon Brazelton (6-4) gave up one run on just five hits in seven innings to earn the win. The Devil Rays ended a four-game losing streak while winning for just the second time in their last 12 games.

Brazelton has now won four of his last five decisions and improved to 6-1 at home.

Cruz went 2-for-3 with two RBI and Jorge Cantu also was 2-for-3.

rubiel Durazo provided the lone Oakland offense with a solo homer.

Mark Redman (9-10) surrendered two runs on six hits in seven innings to take the loss. Oakland had a five-game winning streak stopped.
