CONOVER, N.C., Aug. 21 (UPI) -- Bruce Fleisher shot a seven-under 65 Saturday to take the lead after two rounds of the Greater Hickory Classic.

Fleisher is at nine-under-par 135 and three strokes better than Doug Tewell and first-round leader Mark Lye.

Jerry Pate, in search of his first victory on the Champions Tour, shot a five-under 67 and is tied for fourth place with Larry Nelson, who posted a 69 on Saturday. The duo is knotted at five-under-par 139.

For awhile it did not look like the second round would be completed. Heavy rain came up when the final threesome was on the 17th. There was a 45-minute delay and the final two groups completed their rounds.

Fleisher, the 2001 U.S. Senior Open winner, birdied No. 12 then rolled in a 14-footer at the 15th to take the lead at minus-seven. At 16 his sand-wedge approach stopped two feet from the stick.
