MLB: St. Louis 7, Cincinnati 2

ST. LOUIS, Aug. 17 (UPI) -- Larry Walker hit a grand slam homer to highlight a six-run eighth inning Tuesday as the St. Louis Cardinals rallied to beat the Cincinnati Reds, 7-2.

Cardinals starter Matt Morris pitched seven innings. He gave up two runs on six hits. Cal Eldred (3-0) tossed a scoreless eighth for the win.

The National League Central leading Cardinals have won 11 of their last 13 games, while Cincinnati is headed in the other direction with its third straight loss.

Down 2-1, the Cardinals scored six runs in the bottom of the eighth. Reds reliever Joe Valentine hit Scott Rolen to start the rally. Closer Danny Graves (1-5) came on and Jim Edmonds greeted the new pitcher with a single to center to score Rolen with the tying run.

St. Louis loaded the bases and Graves walked Tony Womack to force in the go-ahead run. Walker then gave the Cardinals a 7-2 cushion.
