Guillen suspended two games

NEW YORK, Aug. 17 (UPI) -- Chicago White Sox Manager Ozzie Guillen faces a two-game suspension after a vociferous argument with umpires during a game against Cleveland Aug. 9.

He was involved in two arguments in the contest. The second drew the suspension.

Television replays showed he had a case when he argued with umpire Hunter Wendelstedt, who erred in calling Carlos Lee out at second on a base-stealing attempt.

As he walked back to the dugout, Guillen was ejected. He was cited by vice president of on-field operations for Major League Baseball Bob Watson for inappropriate comments and actions directed at Wendelstedt and fined an undisclosed amount.

"I walked off the field and when I was walking back to the dugout, I put my hands down and he threw me out," said an unhappy Guillen. "I went back out there, and he said some unprofessional stuff to me. He told me I didn't know what I was doing, and that's when I went off."

His suspension takes effect immediately.
