BOSTON, Aug. 14 (UPI) -- David Ortiz homered twice Saturday night to lead the Boston Red Sox to a 4-3 victory over the Chicago White Sox.
Ortiz and Manny Ramirez, who also homered, are the first Red Sox teammates to hit at least 30 homers in consecutive seasons since Nomar Garciaparra and Mo Vaughn did in 1997-98.
Ortiz' second homer of the game came on a 1-0 pitch from Jon Adkins in the eighth inning.
Timo Perez and Carlos Lee had back-to-back homers off Curt Schilling (14-6) in the first inning, as the White Sox grabbed a 2-0 lead. It marked the sixth time this season the White Sox went back-to-back.
Boston returned the favor in the fourth, as Ramirez and Ortiz went back-to-back to tie the game at 2-2. Kevin Millar followed with a ground-rule double and Jason Varitek singled home Millar to give the Red Sox their first lead.
