MLB: Atlanta 9, St. Louis 7

ATLANTA, Aug. 14 (UPI) -- Julio Franco had a two-run double in the seventh Saturday as the Atlanta Braves rallied to defeat the St. Louis Cardinals, 9-7. Chipper Jones had two homers and Andruw Jones and Rafael Furcal each had one for the Braves. Furcal finished 4-for-5 with three RBI for Atlanta, which has won eight of its last 10 games.

Albert Pujols paced the Cardinals with two home runs -- a two- run shot and a solo drive -- for his 34th and 35th homers of the season. St.Louis lost for just the second time in its last 10.

Antonio Alfonseca (6-4) got the win. John Smoltz worked a perfect ninth for his 29th save of the season.

A seventh inning fielding error by Rafael Furcal scored Edgar Renteria to give the visitors the lead, 7-6. The Braves rallied with three runs off of losing pitcher Ray King (4-2) for their 13th win in their last 16.
