MLB: Cleveland 8, Minnesota 2

CLEVELAND, Aug. 13 (UPI) -- Ben Broussard keyed a 13-hit attack with a three-run homer as Cleveland pounded Minnesota 8-2 Friday night.

The decision, Cleveland's fifth straight and 9th win of the past 10 games, pulled the Indians to within two games of the AL Central-leading Twins.

Broussard finished 2-for-4 and was one of many offensive contributors for the red- hot Indians. Omar Vizquel went 4-for-5 with two runs scored and an RBI, Coco Crisp had two hits, including a home run, while Victor Martinez added a two-run double.

Cleveland also got seven strong innings from starter Scott Elarton (2-2), who allowed just two runs and seven hits.

The Tribe jumped on Twins starter Carlos Silva, as Cleveland struck five times in the bottom of the first, highlighted by Broussard's three-run blast.
