Browns, Kellen Winslow II come to terms

BEREA, Ohio, Aug. 11 (UPI) -- The Cleveland Browns finally have reached contract terms with tight end Kellen Winslow II, their top draft pick in the 2004 player draft out of Miami.

The team said on its Web site that the two sides came to terms late Tuesday. Reports said he got a signing bonus of $16.5 million in a six-year deal that could total $40 million if all incentives are reached.

The 6-foot-4, 250-pound Winslow, son of Hall of Famer Kellen Winslow, caught 117 passes for the Hurricanes the past two seasons. He scored only one touchdown as a junior last season and had nine in his career.

"We're extremely happy," Winslow's agent, Kevin Poston, told the Cleveland Plain Dealer. "It's an unprecedented deal for a sixth pick in the draft."

The newspaper said Winslow missed 12 days of meetings, 15 practices and one scrimmage after the team announced on July 30 it had made its "best offer."
