MINNEAPOLIS, Aug. 8 (UPI) -- Damian Miller drove in a run in the top of the 18th inning Sunday to give the Oakland Athletics a 6-5 victory over the Minnesota Twins.
The Athletics won for just the second time in five games. The Twins lost for just the fifth time in 19 outings.
The game was tied at 3-3, but the Athletics exploded for three runs on five hits in the top 18th.
Marco Scutaro, Eric Chavez and Jermaine Dye hit three straight singles with one out to account for the first run of the frame. With two outs, Chavez raced home on a base hit by Durazo and Miller drove in Dye on another single.
The Twins fell one run short. Lew Ford drew a walk to start the frame, stole second and jogged home on a Justin Morneau two-run homer to center.
Chris Hammond (3-1), the sixth Oakland pitcher, earned the win with three scoreless innings.
