MLB: Atlanta 6, Arizona 2

PHOENIX, Aug. 7 (UPI) -- Chipper Jones had two RBI and Paul Byrd pitched 7 1/3 innings Saturday to lead the Atlanta Braves to a 6-2 victory over the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Byrd (4-3) was charged with two runs on five hits. The righthander struck out four and did not walk a batter.

Rafael Furcal was 3-for-5 with two runs and an RBI and Marcus Giles had an RBI and two runs for the Braves.

Quinton McCracken homered and drove in both runs for the Diamondbacks, who have lost 22 of their last 26 games.

McCracken homered to begin the bottom of the first inning, but Byrd retired 16 of the next 17 batters, allowing only a bunt single by Luis Terrero in the fourth.

The Braves scored three times in the third inning to erase their one-run deficit. Atlanta added three runs in the ninth against Diamondbacks reliever Randy Choate.
