Stubblefield signs with Patriots

FOXBORO, Mass., Aug. 5 (UPI) -- Veteran linebacker Dana Stubblefield, who has spent 11 seasons in the NFL, signed Thursday with the New England Patriots.

Stubblefield, 33, has played with San Francisco, Washington and Oakland. He was a member of San Francisco's Super Bowl winning team in 1994.

He is expected to replace Ted Washington, who left the Patriots as a free agent after they won last season's Super Bowl.

Stubblefield has played 149 games, during which he has made 428 tackles and recorded 53 1/2 sacks. He has been to the Pro Bowl three times.
