NEW YORK, Aug. 5 (UPI) -- Newly signed first baseman John Olerud had three hits and two RBI Thursday as the New York Yankees belted Oakland 5-1.
Olerud is 5-for-8 with four RBI in two games since signing with the Yankees after being released by Seattle.

The Yankees got all their runs off Athletics starter Barry Zito, who lasted 6 2/3 innings. Zito fell to 7-8.
New York starter Kevin Brown improved to 9-1 after allowing just four hits over eight shutout innings. He picked up his fourth straight victory and ran his home record to 6-0.
