MLB: Atlanta 5, Houston 4

HOUSTON, Aug. 4 (UPI) -- Chipper Jones and Charles Thomas both drove in two runs Wednesday night as Atlanta edged Houston, 5-4.

John Thomson (9-7) allowed two runs on four hits through seven innings to pick up the win. He has not lost since July 3.

Atlanta won its 10th in 12 games and John Smoltz picked up his 26th save despite giving up a two-run homer in the ninth.

Houston had won three in a row.

Atlanta took the lead with a three-run second against starter Pete Munro. Johnny Estrada and Andruw Jones singled, Adam LaRoche had an RBI double and Thomas drove in two runs with a double.
