BALTIMORE, Aug. 3 (UPI) -- The Baltimore Orioles beat the Seattle Mariners, 9-7. Tuesday in the first game of a day-night doubleheader.

Larry Bigbie doubled home Jerry Hairston, Jr. with two outs in the seventh to break a tie.

Baltimore's Sidney Ponson saw his personal three-start winning streak come to an end with a no-decision after allowing seven earned runs on 13 hits in six innings.

Baltimore's Javy Lopez drove in three runs with his 16th homer of the season in the third and Rafael Palmeiro had three RBI.

Jason Grimsley (4-5) picked up the win with a scoreless inning. B.J. Ryan struck out Raul Ibanez with two outs and the bases loaded in the eighth, and Jorge Julio worked the ninth for his 16th save.

Ichiro Suzuki went 5-for-5 with a triple and two runs scored to lead the Mariners, tying a franchise-high for hits in a game.
