Lonard leads Irish Open

BALTRAY, Ireland, July 23 (UPI) -- Peter Lonard shot a 2-under 70 Friday that boosted him two shots in front after two rounds of the Irish Open.

Lonard reached 10-under 134 for 36 holes while James Kingston and Stephen Gallacher were at 136.

Brett Rumford, Roger Chapman, Robert-Jan Derksen, Raphael Jacquelin and Steve Webster were all at 137.

"It was a little tougher today and the wind came from a different direction," Lonard said. "There were a lot of approach shots played in a crosswind which made it a serious test. I got off to a great start and then hit some ordinary shots."
