MLB: Atlanta 16, Montreal 5

ATLANTA, July 18 (UPI) -- Eli Marrero hit a grand slam and Chipper Jones was a double short of the cycle and had four RBI Sunday to lead Atlanta to a 16-5 win over Montreal.

John Thomson (7-7) allowed three runs on eight hits in five innings for the Braves, who have won two straight and five of six games.

Tony Batista had two hits, including a two-run homer, for the Expos, who have lost seven of their last 11.

J.D. Drew finished with two hits and scored twice for Atlanta, which scored five runs in the home first off Scott Downs. Drew extended his hitting streak to 15 games.

Chipper Jones had a triple to right to score Drew for the first run, After consecutive walks to Julio Franco and Andruw Jones loaded the bases, Marrero delivered his third career slam for a 5-0 advantage.
