MLB: Oakland 7, Anaheim 3

OAKLAND, Calif., July 1 (UPI) -- Damian Miller hit two of Oakland's five home runs Thursday as the Athletics defeated Anaheim, 7-3.

After a pair of late-inning victories in the previous two games, Oakland homered four times off Anaheim starter Jarrod Washburn (8-4).

Miller recorded his first multi-homer game since April 11, 2002 at Coors Field and began his big day in the sixth. After Jermaine Dye's two-run home run made it 4-0, Miller extended the lead to 6-0 with a shot to center field that scored Eric Karros.

Dye and Miller's homers proved important as Oakland's bullpen struggled to preserve the victory. After Kirk Saarloos (1-0) allowed five hits in five-plus scoreless innings, rookie Justin Lehr yielded three runs and three hits in 1 1/3.
