U.S. Olympic tennis team named

WIMBLEDON, England, June 26 (UPI) -- Serena and Venus Williams, Andy Roddick and Martina Navratilova were among those chosen Saturday for the United States Olympic tennis team.

Venus Williams won the gold medal in women's singles at the 2000 Sydney Games and paired with younger sister Serena to capture the women's doubles. They again will participate in the singles and doubles at the Athens Olympics from Aug. 13-29.

Jennifer Capriati and Chanda Rubin also will play singles, with Navratilova making her Olympic debut at 47. Navratilova will team with Lisa Raymond in doubles.

The reigning U.S. Open champion and second-ranked player in the world, Roddick will play singles and pair with Mardy Fish in doubles. Vincent Spadea and Taylor Dent were named to the singles squad.

The top-ranked doubles team, twins Bob and Mike Bryan, also are part of the team.
