MLB: Pittsburgh 5, Anaheim 2

PITTSBURGH, June 17 (UPI) -- Tike Redman had his first career multi-homer game Thursday night and Kris Benson snapped a three-game losing streak as Pittsburgh downed Anaheim, 5-2.

Pittsburgh trailed, 2-1, when Redman led off the bottom of the seventh. Abraham Nunez was on deck to pinch hit for Benson before Redman drove a 1-1 pitch from Bartolo Colon (4-6) over the right field wall to tie it.

Benson (5-6) stayed in the game and grounded out, but Jack Wilson gave the Pirates a 3-2 lead with a two-out solo homer off Colon.

Redman capped the scoring in the eighth with a two-run homer off reliever Kevin Gregg as Pittsburgh secured just its third winning streak of the season. It followed a nine-game slide.

Benson did not allow a hit through the first four innings. He yielded just two runs and five hits while striking out eight over eight innings.

Closer Jose Mesa worked around a pair of hits in the ninth for his 16th save in as many chances.
