Four players withdraw from NBA Draft

NEW YORK, June 17 (UPI) -- Mississippi State forward Lawrence Roberts, the SEC Player of the Year, was among four collegians who withdrew Thursday from the NBA draft.

College underclassmen and high school players had until 5 p.m. EDT to pull out of the June 24 draft as long as they had not yet hired an agent.

Louisiana State freshman forward Brandon Bass, Washington sophomore guard Nate Robinson and Charlotte freshman center Martin Iti also withdrew before the deadline.

The NBA on Friday is expected to release the complete list of players available for next week's draft.

Connecticut juniors Emeka Okafor and Ben Gordon, Duke freshman Luol Deng, Wisconsin junior Devin Harris, Arizona sophomore Andre Iguodala and Stanford junior Josh Childress are among the underclassmen who entered the draft.

Joining them were high school stars Dwight Howard, Shaun Livingston and Al Jefferson.

Roberts averaged 16.9 points and 10.1 rebounds for Mississippi State, which won its first outright SEC regular-season title since 1962-63. The 6-9 Roberts played two seasons with Baylor before transferring to Mississippi State.
