Report: Tyson to return to ring on July 30

MCLEAN, Va., June 15 (UPI) -- Former heavyweight champion Mike Tyson reportedly will return to the ring on July 30 to fight unheralded Kevin McBride.

USA Today reported Tuesday that Tyson adviser Shelly Finkel was "putting the finishing touches" on a fight that would be televised by Showtime.

Finkel told USA Today that the fight would likely take place in Louisville, Ky., but that Kansas City, Mo., and another U.S. city he would not identify were in the running.

"Mike just wants to get in the ring," Finkel told the newspaper. "He's serious and in great shape."

Tyson, who turns 38 later this month, has not fought since a first-round knockout of Clifford Etienne on Feb. 22, 2003. That was the only fight for Tyson since a lopsided loss to Lennox Lewis in a June 2002 heavyweight championship.

Tyson (50-4, 44 KOs) became the youngest heavyweight champion in history with a second-round knockout of Trevor Berbick in September 1986.
