MLB: Seattle 3, Montreal 0

SEATTLE, June 13 (UPI) -- Jamie Moyer combined with three relievers on an eight-hitter as the Seattle Mariners blanked the Montreal Expos Saturday night, 3-0.

Moyer (5-2) allowed six singles in seven innings and won his fourth straight decision. He struck out a season-high seven and issued just one walk, pitching Seattle to its fifth win in seven games.

Moyer threw 78 of 114 pitches for strikes before giving way to Ron Villone, who got two outs in the eighth. Shigetoshi Hasegawa finished the inning and closer Eddie Guardado worked around a hit by Juan Rivera in the ninth for his 11th save in 14 chances.

After ending a 29-inning scoring drought in the ninth inning of Friday's series opener, the Mariners got a run in each of the first three frames.

Dave Hansen had an RBI single in the first, Hiram Bocachica homered in the second and John Olerud plated Ichiro Suzuki with a sacrifice fly in the third.

Montreal starter Claudio Vargas (4-4) lasted just 3 1/3 innings and allowed three runs and four hits.
