MLS: Kansas City 2, Columbus 2

COLUMBUS, Ohio, June 12 (UPI) -- Jeff Cunningham scored his second goal of the game on a second-half penalty kick Saturday as Columbus rallied for a 2-2 tie with Kansas City.

Despite having a four-game winning streak snapped, the Crew climbed within one point of first-place Chicago in the MSL Eastern Conference.

In the 63rd minute, referee Marcel Yonan ruled that Wizards defender Nick Garcia pulled down Cunningham in the box. Kansas City protested, but Cunningham fired the ball just out of reach of goalkeeper Tony Meola for the equalizer.

The teams combined for three goals in a six-minute stretch of the first half.
