Dodgers activate righthander Hideo Nomo

TORONTO, June 8 (UPI) -- The Lis Angeles Dodgers on Tuesday activated Japanese righthander Hideo Nomo from the 15-day disabled list.

Nomo had been sidelined since May 20 with a split fingernail on his right index finger.

Nomo was to start Los Angeles' first interleague game against the Toronto Blue Jays on Tuesday night.

The start would be Nomo's first since lasting just 1 1/3 innings at Philadelphia in a 9-4 loss on May 19. He is 3-5 with a 7.13 ERA this season and is winless since April 21, a span of five starts.

To make room for Nomo on the roster, the Dodgers optioned righthander Brian Falkenborg to Class AAA Las Vegas of the Pacific Coast League.

Pitching in the major leagues for the first time since 1999 with Baltimore, Falkenborg was 1-0 with a 7.53 ERA in six relief appearances.
