MBNA America 200 to resume Monday

DOVER, Del., June 5 (UPI) -- Weather was the only winner Saturday at the Busch MBNA America 200 at Dover International Speedway.

Nearly six hours after the scheduled start of the race, NASCAR officials announced its postponement due to rain.

The race got underway but was stopped after 28 of 200 laps. Another 72 laps were needed to be completed in order for the race to become official.

Drivers twice were called to their cars in order to try to restart the race, but each time the rain resumed.

The race now will take place Monday at 11 a.m. EDT, picking up at lap 28. Sunday was not an option since NASCAR's MBNA 400 is scheduled at the speedway.

When the race resumes, Bobby Hamilton Jr., who qualified sixth, will have the lead. He took the lead from pole-sitter David Green on lap 11.

Green, Jason Leffler, Johnny Sauter and Greg Biffle round out the top five.
