Vickie Johnson scored 10 of her 15 points in the first half Tuesday as the New York Liberty posted its fourth straight win, 63-53 over the Charlotte Sting.

Tari Phillips added 12 points for the Liberty (4-1), who have won four in a row for the first time since July 13-22, 2002.

Akso in WNBA play, Natalie Williams scored eight of her 17 points during an early second-half run as Indiana avoided its third straight loss with a 79-60 victory over San Antonio.

Charlotte trailed, 31-20, at halftime but closed to 45-41 on a hoop by Andrea Stinson with 6:25 to go. Rookie Shameka Christon scored a season-high 11 points for the Liberty.

Charlotte Smith-Taylor scored a career-high 18 points and Tammy Sutton-Brown added 11 for Charlotte, which had a two-game winning streak snapped.

Williams scored nearly half her points during a 12-4 burst that turned a seven-point halftime lead into a 50-35 cushion with 15:57 remaining.

Tamika Catchings had 20 points, nine rebounds, five assists and three blocks for the Fever, who were coming off Monday's 63-41 loss at Charlotte.

In two late Tuesday night WNBA games, Houston was at Phoenix and Seattle at Los Angeles.
