ATLANTA, May 31 (UPI) -- Rookie Nick Green,, highlighted a six-run seventh inning with his first major league homer Monday to lead Atlanta to an 8-2 victory over Montreal.
Green was called up from the minors on May 14th to play second base for the injured Marcus Giles
With the game tied at 2-2 and a runner at third base, Expos starter Livan Hernandez intentionally walked Rafael Furcal to get to Green, whom he had struck out twice. But Green launched an 0-1 pitch over the left field wall.
Atlanta starter Russ Ortiz (6-4) continued his recent sucess over Montreal, allowing two runs and five hits in seven innings. He improved to 4-1 in his last six starts against the Expos.
Braves catcher Johnny Estrada had three hits, including two with runners in scoring position to drive in two runs.
Hernandez (3-5) lasted 6 2/3 innings and surrendered five runs and six hits.
