Irwin holds lead at suspended Senior PGA

LOUISVILLE, Ky., May 30 (UPI) -- After a week of flash floods and thunderstorms, the final round of the Senior PGA Championship was suspended Sunday because of the threat of tornadoes.

After completing the third round, the leaders barely got on the course to start the fourth round when play was delayed at 3:17 p.m. EDT and suspended for the day just under two hours later.

Play will resume Monday at 8 a.m. EDT, with Hale Irwin at 7-under for the tournament, holding a one-shot lead over Dave Barr and 50-year Jay Haas, who is making his Champions Tour debut.

Tom Watson and John Harris are tied for fourth at 5-under, two strokes ahead of Craig Stadler. Ray Floyd, Vicente Fernandez and Walter Hall are tied for seventh at 2-under.

Irwin completed just the first hole, while Barr, Haas and Harris were only able to get through two holes when lightning forced the players off the course.
