MLB: Kansas City 2, Minnesota 1

KANSAS CITY, Mo., May 28 (UPI) -- Tony Graffanino's infield hit drove in Wilton Guerrero with two outs in the ninth inning Friday night as Kansas City nipped Minnesota, 2-1.

Graffanino had been sidelined with a meniscus tear in his left knee and came off the disabled list prior to the game. He was hitless in his first three at-bats but came through as the Royals beat the Twins for just the second time in seven games this season.

Juan Rincon (6-3) started the ninth by striking out Matt Stairs, then walked Ken Harvey on four pitches and Guerrero came on to run. Joe Randa walked and both runners moved up on a groundout.

Graffanino bounced the first pitch he saw from Rincon into the hole and beat the throw of shortstop Cristian Guzman.
