MLB: San Diego 5, Milwaukee 3

MILWAUKEE, May 28 (UPI) -- Sean Burroughs provided key insurance with a two-run homer as a pinch hitter in the ninth inning Friday night as San Diego defeated Milwaukee, 5-3.

Former Brewer Mark Loretta rapped a go-ahead RBI single in the seventh for San Diego, which improved to 6-4 on a 12-game road trip.

Winning pitcher Brian Lawrence (7-3) pitched seven innings, yielding two runs -- one earned -- and four hits while striking out 10 without a walk.

After Burroughs' homer against Luis Vizcaino gave San Diego a 5-2 lead, Hoffman allowed a one-out walk to Ben Grieve and an RBI double to Geoff Jenkins to make things interesting.

But Hoffman struck out Lyle Overbay and got Junior Spivey to fly out to record his 13th save of the season and 365th of his career.
