MLB: San Diego 4, Colorado 3 (10 inn.)

DENVER, May 27 (UPI) -- Phil Nevin's sacrifice fly in the 10th inning Thursday scored Mark Loretta as San Diego rallied for a 4-3 triumph over Colorado.

The Padres overcame a 3-1 deficit and tied the game on rookie Khalil Greene's two-run homer with one out in the ninth off Colorado closer Shawn Chacon.

After Chacon blew his third save in 13 opportunities, Vladimir Nunez (3-3) entered and opened the 10th by giving up back-to-back singles to Loretta and Brian Giles.

Following Giles' hit, Nevin lifted a 3-2 pitch to deep left-center field.

San Diego improved to 5-4 on its 12-game road trip and got a solid effort from rookie starter Justin Germano and three relievers.

Germano allowed a pair of unearned runs and scattered three hits in six innings.
