Lineup filled on Indy 500 Bump Day

INDIANAPOLIS, May 23 (UPI) -- The starting lineup for the Indy 500 was filled Sunday in the final round of qualifications at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Greg Ray became the 33rd and final car to make next Sunday's 88th Indianapolis 500.

When the day opened, there were seven positions that needed to be filled for the Memorial Day weekend classic. P.J. Jones was the first to make it into the field with a four-lap average of 213.355 miles an hour in a Dallara/Chevrolet.

Marty Roth (211.974 mph), 1996 winner Buddy Lazier (215.110), Jeff Simmons (214.783), Richie Hearn (213.715), Robby McGehee (211.631) and Ray (216.641) qualified in that order.

Ray was the fastest driver in the third and final round of qualifications and will started 27th.
