Giants forfeit two workout days

NEW YORK, May 21 (UPI) -- The New York Giants have been forced to forfeit two days of spring workouts, following the complaint made to the NFL Players Association.

The NFL management council and the NFL Players Association (NFLPA) resolved the matter Friday, ruling that new Giants Coach Tom Coughlin violated the collective bargaining agreement's off-season workout rules.

NFL executive vice president Harold Henderson and NFLPA executive director Gene Upshaw determined that the Giants violated rules pertaining to the length of workouts on organized team activity (OTA) days and the scheduling of classroom sessions.

As a result, the Giants forfeit May 26-27, which had been designated as OTA days.

"We did not intentionally violate any rules," Coughlin said. "The issues that have been brought to our attention will be corrected."
