MLB: Minnesota 3, Chicago White Sox 2

CHICAGO, May 14 (UPI) -- Jacque Jones and Lew Ford had RBI singles in an eighth-inning rally Friday night as Minnesota edged the Chicago White Sox, 3-2.

Chicago began play Friday with 12 one-run victories -- the most in the major leagues -- and was 8-1 in one-run games at U.S. Cellular Field.

Damaso Marte (1-2) started the eighth with a 2-1 lead and retired Cristian Guzman to open the inning. But Doug Mientkiewicz and Torii Hunter walked and Jones, who was three for three, singled up the middle to tie the game.

Shingo Takatsu replaced Marte and Ford reached on an infield single that delivered Hunter with the go-ahead run.

After Minnesota starter Kyle Lohse allowed two runs and five hits in 6 1/3 innings, the Twins' bullpen logged 2 2/3 hitless frames. Aaron Fultz got an out in the sixth and Juan Rincon (5-2) notched the win with 1 1/3 innings.

Joe Nathan got the final three outs for his 12th save.
