NEW YORK, May 12 (UPI) -- The NBA fined Detroit Pistons Coach Larry Brown $7,500 Wednesday for criticizing the officials after a playoff game.
Following the Pistons' 82-64 loss to the New Jersey Nets in their Eastern Conference series Sunday, Brown said the referees were unfair to Detroit forward Rasheed Wallace, who got into foul trouble in the game.
"I just think (the officials) disrepect the kid in general," Brown said. "They can fine me or whatever they want. I'm just telling you a fact."
Wallace had this comment on the game: "They (the Nets) played a good game tonight and they won, but I am putting an asterisk by this win."
New Jersey won again Tuesday night, 94-79, squaring the best-of-seven series at two wins apiece.
