Pettitte (2-1), placed on the disabled list after straining his left elbow following his Astros debut on April 6, yielded one hit in six innings in a 2-0 win over Pittsburgh on Thursday.

He settled down Tuesday after giving up a solo homer to Jack Wilson with one out in the first inning.

Houston tied the game on Craig Biggio's 36th career leadoff homer, which came off Josh Fogg (0-4). The Astros took the lead for good on Mike Lamb's RBI single in the fourth inning.
