MLB: Kansas City 3, Toronto 2 (10 innings)

TORONTO, May 3 (UPI) -- Aaron Guiel homered in the top of the 10th inning Monday as Kansas City Royals squandered a two-run lead in the ninth before defeating Toronto, 3-2.

Jimmy Gobble retired the first 16 batters and seemed to be cruising to his first career complete game before allowing a a two-out double to Carlos Delgado in the ninth and an RBI single to Josh Phelps that cut the Royals' lead to 2-1.

Mike MacDougal relieved and allowed a single to Eric Hinske and walked pinch hitter Frank Catalanotto and Orlando Hudson to force in a run.

Guiel hit his fourth homer of the season off Terry Adams (2-1).

Nate Field (1-0) got the final out of the ninth and the first in the 10th. Jaime Cerda, recalled from the minors before the game, earned the save.

Ken Harvey and Carlos Beltran had run-scoring singles for the Royals.
