ST. PETERSBURG, Fla., May 1 (UPI) -- Erubiel Durazo hit his second career grand slam Saturday as Oakland withstood a shaky effort from its bullpen to defeat Tampa Bay, 6-5.
A pair of two-run homers by Durazo accounted for all of Oakland's scoring in a 4-2 win in the series opener on Friday.
Saturday's contest followed a similar fashion as Durazo hit a grand slam off Trever Miller in the ninth to make it 6-1.
Oakland would need every bit of the lead as Jim Mecir allowed a two-run triple to Carl Crawford and a two-run homer to Jose Cruz Jr. before recording the final two outs.
Oakland outlasted Tampa Bay starter Jeremi Gonzalez, who pitched six scoreless innings.
Eric Chavez tied the game at 1-1 with a leadoff home run in the eighth off Lance Carter (0-1).
Tampa Bay has dropped six straight.
Chris Hammond (2-1) pitched two scoreless innings in relief.
