MLB: Colorado 3, Atlanta 2 (1st game)

DENVER, May 1 (UPI) -- Shawn Chacon escaped a three-base error by Denny Hocking in the top of the ninth Saturday as Colorado beat Atlanta, 3-2, in the first game of a twin bill.

A converted starter, Chacon struck out Marcus Giles to start the ninth. Andruw Jones followed with a line drive to left field that Hocking, a converted infielder, misplayed to allow Jones to reach third.
