MINNEAPOLIS, April 30 (UPI) -- Carlos Silva, a starting pitcher for the first time in his major league career, went 7 1/3 innings Friday night to help Minnesota past Anaheim, 6-3.
Silva (4-0) gave up three runs -- two earned -- and seven hits. The righthander allowed just one run in seven innings in his previous start.

Doug Mientkiewicz's two-run double in the third inning gave the Twins a 2-1 lead. An inning later, run-scoring singles by Cristian Guzman and Nick Punto gave Silva a 4-1 advantage.
Guzman had three hits and Corey Koskie added his fifth home run.
Ramon Ortiz (1-3) was hammered for 12 hits and six runs in 5 2/3 innings for the Angels, who had won six of seven.
