MINNEAPOLIS, April 28 (UPI) -- Jacque Jones drilled a three-run homer in the bottom of the ninth inning to give the Minnesota Twins a come-from-behind 7-4 victory over the Toronto Blue Jays.
Jones was mobbed by teammates upon arriving at home plate.
Minnesota trailed, 4-3, entering the ninth, but Shannon Stewart and Doug Mientkiewicz singled off Justin Speier (1-2). After Corey Koskie fouled out, Torii Hunter tied it with an RBI single. Jones followed with his fourth homer to give the Twins their major league-leading 10th comeback win.
Juan Rincon (3-0) worked two scoreless innings to get the win. Twins starter Johan Santana tossed seven innings and gave up four runs and eight hits while striking out a season-high seven.
Santana was the victim of some poor fielding by Jones and shortstop Cristian Guzman. Jones turned a base hit by Chris Gomez into Toronto's first run when he misplayed the ball in right field in the first inning.
Toronto wasted a strong effort from Miguel Batista, who worked seven-plus innings and allowed just two runs and five hits. Kerry Ligtenberg yielded a two-run double to Lew Ford in the eighth before Speier blew the save.
