Redskins sign Michael Barrow

ASHBURN, Va., April 22 (UPI) -- The Washington Redskins on Thursday agreed to terms with free agent linebacker Michael Barrow, a move that will likely signal the departure of Jeremiah Trotter.

Terms of the contract were not disclosed, although one report said the deal will be worth $3 million annually over the next three years.

The 34-year-old Barrow has spent the last four seasons with the New York Giants. In 2003, the middle linebacker led the Giants in tackles for the third straight season, setting a career high with 177, including 122 solo.

The signing indicates the Redskins may release Trotter, who has spent the last two seasons in Washington after leaving the Philadelphia Eagles.

The Redskins have been busy in the offseason, obtaining quarterback Mark Brunell, running back Clinton Portis, cornerback Shawn Springs and wide receiver James Thrash.
