BLOOMINGTON, Ind., April 20 (UPI) -- Indiana recruit Josh Smith has declared for the NBA draft on Tuesday, joining heralded summer teammate Dwight Howard.

Smith, who teamed with Howard on an Atlanta-based AAU team the past two summers, committed to Indiana before his senior season in high school. Howard announced his NBA intentions six days ago.

Smith played this past season at Oak Hill Academy in Mouth of Wilson, Va., helping the private school to a 38-0 mark.

Smith shined in a pair of high school showcase games -- the McDonald's All-American High School Game in March and the Hoop Summit in April -- that were played in front of numerous NBA scouts and personnel. He is projected as a likely lottery selection.
