CHICAGO, April 15 (UPI) -- The American League Player of the Week finished off a sweep for the Chicago White Sox with a 10th inning homer Thursday to defeat visiting Kansas City 6-5.

Magglio Ordonez pulled an inside breaking ball by D.J. Carrasco over the left field wall for the victory.

The Royals pounded out 10 homers in the three games against the Sox, including three by Carlos Beltran, but failed to win any of them.

Frank Thomas hit his first home run of the season for the White Sox, a two-run shot in the fifth inning which gave Chicago a 5-2 lead.

But White Sox ace Mark Buehrle could not hold it, yielding an RBI single to Joe Randa and a game-tying two-run double to Benito Santiago in the sixth inning.

Damaso Marte (1-1) pitched a scoreless ninth and picked up the win when Ordonez hit his fourth home run of the season in the bottom of the inning.

Ordonez earned AL Player of the Week honors on Monday after hitting .360 with three home runs and 10 RBI from April 5-11.
